Kids in Kenya

Well done to Tara Riggs for organising the donation of our old kits to this fantastic charity.

If you are interested in donating Football boots, shin pads, clothes or books please contact Tara Riggs 0402 872 872 or leave items in the red box at the Abbott Rd canteen on Saturday's during the football season.

'On closer inspection I realized that they were playing soccer with rolled up plastic bags bound together with rubber bands – that was their soccer ball.'

Paule Browne-Cooper went on safari in Kenya in 2008 and was so moved by the poverty she saw she decided to do something to help.

She returned to Sydney and set up a not-for-profit organisation called Kids in Kenya ( kidsinkenya.net ). She has fund raised and made 4 trips to Kenya since then, each time bringing funds, school supplies, books, and other basic supplies for these poor communities and schools in the Siaya district of West Kenya.

Her current project is building a library so all members of the community can benefit. Together with a team of volunteers and after many years of fundraising the library is now almost complete.

Curl Curl Youth Club decided to get on board and support her work by donating hundred’s of used kits, footballs and pumps. The children there were so excited to receive these kits as the only clothes they have are their school uniforms, and they are all mad soccer players. They all put the tops on straight away and started playing football!
